Way back since the age of dial-up computers, I was writing health and wellness newsletters. I dabbled in many domain names and a variety of passions through the years, but my writing always boomeranged back to the same themes:
The power we hold: the power that peopled us here.
But the worlds institutions steal that power and leave us feeling frustrated, unhealthy, and stressed.
But when we reclaim this power, trust this power, and own this power?
Our life becomes the greatest-love story.
While I live my life at full-throttle, at a volume of 11, going all in, living life with the most sacred tenderness and joy - the world around me does not. I was frustrated with the dismal health of humanity, the lack of zest, zeal, verve, and vigor, and the divided world we live in.
So, instead of waiting for a revolution - I decided to take my message on the digital road. And Philosophy of You was born.
And I thought, maybe, just maybe, if humanity could awaken to the power we hold, we could and would make a more happier, healthier, and fully alive planet. This life is so sweetly singular, incredibly beautiful and ever so finite. It should be lived as the greatest-love story and human experience.
Philosophy of You is this: giving the middle finger to the worlds institutions that we have been made to endure - while reclaiming the life we are meant enjoy! Cheers!
Was famous for a minute on...
I’m Rebecca York who….
• Loves jet-setting to the sweet-spots of humanity.
• Has 3 daughters that fill my entire heart. My 3 human poems.
• Got a formal education from dive-bars, good humans, old philosophers, great poets, and world travel. I also hold a degree in Chiropractic.
• Slings words about love, anarchy, passport, and passion!
• Has a bit of pirate mouth & loves (and tells) a good dirty joke.
• Watches Hallmark movies and Game of Thrones.
• Has learned just as much from assholes as beautiful humans – which pisses me off. But, such as life.
• Knows without a doubt that the same force that spins our atoms, moves the seas, and rotates the earth - is the same life-force that pulses within each of us. And we should harness it and ride it bare-back with the wind in our hair!
• Brings the flirt when flirting with disaster.
• Will NOT be caged, herded, or diminished by the narrow confines of societal norms, fears, or template expectations. (I don’t care what the brochure says.)
• Has been to 43 countries to date.
• Shares ideas they are not for the masses. They are for the star-gazers, the wanderers and wonder-ers, the liberation-seekers, and the unapologetic-sparks of life. (Welcome home.)
• Gets so excited when my words ignites humans back to LIFE! ***eyes fly open, dancing with possibilities*** (My work is done here, young grasshopper.)
• I am among the rare 7% of woman who home-birthed our 3 daughters.
• Gets bored in suburbia, restless with routine, and lives my life like an UN-procedure manual. Not because I’m an outlaw (I think), or because I’m an anarchist (well, maybe) or because I'm crazy (most likely!) But because it’s in my nature. Some of us can’t outrun that soulful kind of destiny.
• My favorite books as a child was Pippi Longstockings and Little House on the Prairie. Which explains everything.
• I’ve been married for 26+ years to the love of my life. What’s the secret? Humor, passion, and lots of wine.
• 10 years ago, we sold everything, bought 5 tickets, 5 backpacks, and traveled around the world for a year with 3 kids in tow. (Another story entirely.)
• When I’m depressed or disillusioned, I google scandalous women of history. They stir me into aliveness every time!
• I have a disdain for folks who whittle down their entire identity to a political bumper sticker. There’s so much more to life, people! *starts to yawn and looks for an exit*
• Loves the phrase: “Ella que se crea a sí misma" - which is Spanish for “She who creates herself." If I were to get a tattoo, that’s what it would be.
• LOVES Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris. My favorite place on the planet. If I could live in there?! I would. My second favorite is Afrikan Burning man in South Africa. (See you next year, burners!)
• Spends the summers in Michigan in a cabin in the woods where I practice archery and can tomatoes.
• Drinks coffee black, like my clothes, and dark like my humor.
• Has a soft bleeding heart. I am the opposite of Beth Dutton of Yellowstone. (Unless you are bombing children in Gaza. Then? I would happily watch them take you to the ‘train station.’)
• Has a sister who reads everything single word I write - and I cannot thank her enough for her support. (Hi Bayne!)
• Is obsessed with dictionaries, Cape Town, Green Velvet Couches, and 1920’s Paris.
